Sanctioning an event
Sanctioning an event tags it as official under a sanctioning organization and one of its regions. It's how a governing body recognizes the event's results.
Before you can sanction
Your club must be an approved member of the organization — see affiliating your club. Until then, no organization options appear on the event form.
Tagging an event
On the create or edit form for a league or tournament, find the Sanctioned by picker:
- Choose the organization. Only organizations your club is approved in (and whose sport matches the event) appear.
- Choose the region. You can pick the region your club was assigned, or any region beneath it — for example, if your club is assigned to a state, you can sanction at the state level or a county or club-night level under it.
- Save the event.
A sanctioned event shows a 🏅 Sanctioned badge with the organization and region on its page. To remove the tag, set Sanctioned by back to Not sanctioned.
Sanctioned results roll up to region leaderboards
Once an event is sanctioned, its results feed the organization's regional leaderboards. On Global Stats you can filter by region, and the standings include every event sanctioned to that region or any region beneath it. Only sanctioned events count toward a region's standings — unsanctioned events still appear on the all-time and club leaderboards, just not under a region.
Note
Any organizer of an approved club can sanction that club's events — the ability follows the club, not one specific person.
Heads up
You can only sanction events for an organization your club has been approved in, and only to your assigned region or a region beneath it. Picking anything else is blocked.
