Divisions & bundled events
Most tournaments are a single event with one schedule and roster. Skoryd also lets you group several events under one banner — either as skill divisions of the same tournament, or as a multi-event bundle (for example, a whole weekend of separate tournaments). You pick this when you create a tournament.
Choosing a structure
When you create a tournament, the Event structure card offers three choices:
- Single event — one tournament with one schedule and roster. The normal flow.
- Skill divisions — Pro / Competitive / Social tiers; players register for one division.
- Multi-event bundle — several events (e.g. a weekend) under one banner.
Note
Event structure only appears for tournaments, not recurring leagues. Each division or sub-event is itself a full event, so it can have its own format, scoring rules, boards, dates, fee, and refund policy.
Skill divisions
Use divisions to run one tournament split into skill tiers — say a Pro bracket and a Social bracket on the same day. Players pick the division that fits and register into just that one.
Set up your divisions first
Divisions come from a catalog you manage once and reuse. Set up your tiers at your club → Divisions (organizers only). If your event is sanctioned under an organization, the divisions come from that organization's catalog instead, so every club running its events uses the same tiers.
Each tier has a name (e.g. Pro, Competitive, Social), an optional description, and a sort order. You can archive a tier you no longer use instead of deleting it.
Divisions are per sport. If you pick the Other sport, first type the sport name (e.g. Volleyball) — each named sport keeps its own separate set of divisions.
Build the divisioned event
Choose Skill divisions in the create form and you'll get a division builder:
- Set a Division defaults template — the format, scoring, boards, fee, and a default date/time that each new division starts from.
- Add a division for each tier you want, picking the tier from the catalog. Adjust anything per division (a division can run at a different time on the same boards, or carry a different fee).
- Shared details — name, sanctioning, logos, season, public/just-for-fun — stay on the main form and apply to the whole event.
Each division becomes its own event with its own dates, registration deadline, schedule, roster, and scoring.
Changing a division's skill tier
Picked the wrong tier? Open that division and choose a different one under Skill division on its edit page. You don't need to delete and rebuild it.
Two things to know:
- Only tiers not already used by another division in the same bundle are offered — a tier can appear once per event.
- If you never renamed the division, its name updates to match the new tier as soon as you pick one, so you can see it before you save. If you gave it your own name, that name is kept.
Any results already recorded move with the division, so the division filters on your leaderboards stay correct.
Multi-event bundles
A bundle groups several separate tournaments under one banner — useful for a weekend series or a multi-stop circuit. Each sub-event is named by you and runs independently.
When you choose Multi-event bundle, you then pick a Registration model:
- Per event — players register for each event separately, and each event has its own entry fee. (This is "register for what you want to play.")
- One registration for all — players register once for the whole bundle (one fee) and are entered into every event.
With One registration for all, you set a single Bundle registration fee; the individual events don't carry their own fee. With Per event, each sub-event carries its own fee just like a standalone tournament.
The bundle hub
A divisioned event or a bundle shows a hub page instead of a normal event page. It says Divisions or Multi-event with a count ("4 divisions") under the title, and lists every division/sub-event as a card with its status, format, dates, fee, and spots left.
The same wording appears wherever the event is listed — your club's Events tab and overview, the public Tournaments page, and an organization's event lists — so you can tell at a glance that an entry is a group of events rather than a single one. A bundle's format line describes its children, so it only names a format and schedule when they all share one.
For players:
- Per-event / divisions — open the division or event you want and register for it from its card. You can register for more than one in a per-event bundle.
- Register once — use the single Bundle registration card at the top; one registration enters you into everything. The per-event cards are view-only.
For organizers, each card has Manage division / Manage event → to open that event and set up its schedule, roster, and scoring. The hub also gives you:
- + Add event / + Add division — add another event to an existing bundle later. A new event inherits the bundle's club, sport, sanctioning, season, and branding, and seeds its settings from the most recent sibling. In a register-once bundle, everyone already registered is automatically entered into the new event.
- Open / Close registration (per-event and divisions bundles) — open, close, or reopen sign-ups across all the children at once, instead of one at a time.
- Edit bundle and Delete bundle.
Dates: the 14-day window and starting an event
A bundle is meant to be one connected event — a weekend, a week, a short series — not an open-ended calendar. Two rules keep it that way:
- All of a bundle's events must fall within a 14-day window. Whether you're creating the bundle, adding an event, or rescheduling one, the earliest and latest date across every event can't be more than 14 days apart. The date picker when you add an event only lets you choose dates that keep the whole bundle inside the window, and you'll see a clear message if a change would stretch it too far. The window floats — you can move dates around freely as long as everything still fits inside some 14-day span, so you're not locked to the dates you first chose.
- You can only start a bundle event around its scheduled date. A bundle event can be started (moved to Active so scoring unlocks) only within 3 days of its scheduled dates. If the event has slipped further than that, reschedule it first (Edit → dates) and then start it — rescheduling is still held to the 14-day window, so play can never drift far from the plan.
Note
These two rules apply only to bundled events (divisions and multi-event bundles). A standalone single event has no span limit and can be started whenever you like.
Shared partners across a bundle
In a register-once bundle that includes fixed-partner doubles events, partners are shared across the whole bundle — you set a partner once and it applies to every fixed-doubles event.
- Players — once you've registered for the bundle, use Set partner on the Bundle registration card to pick your partner for all the fixed-doubles events.
- Organizers — use Pair partners on the hub to assign teams across the bundle, with the same options as a single event: pair manually, set team names, or auto-pair by stats (balanced or stacked). See Brackets & seeding for how the stat seeding works.
- A Teams list on the registration card shows the current pairings to everyone.
Setting a partner at the bundle level is just a starting point — after players are paired, a partner can still be changed on an individual event. Each fixed-doubles event keeps its own partner picker, so a player (or the organizer) can override the bundle pairing for one event without affecting the others. A later bundle-wide change re-applies to every event that hasn't started yet, overwriting those per-event overrides.
Note
Once a fixed-doubles event's schedule has been generated, its teams are locked in — a later bundle-wide partner change skips that event but still updates the ones that haven't started yet. Set partners before generating schedules to keep them consistent everywhere.
If you'd rather assign every team yourself, turn on Organizer-only pairing — players then don't pick partners and just see their assigned team. See Event formats for that toggle.
